Monday, November 10th, 2014 - 6:30 pm
CFCC Students will speak on Slave Records

Billy Koch and Christine Hockaday will lecture on the New Hanover County Slave Deed Project. They are the student coordinators for a Cape Fear Community College class project that has been going on for several semesters. The students go to the NH Register of Deeds Office  and abstract each deed that contains a slave's name
and any other information that can be gleaned from the deed.
So far their database goes from 1749-1842.
