The North Carolina Room sponsored an enthusiastically received 4 session lecture series in February 2008 for beginning genealogists, with particular emphasis on internet searching.

The series was presented by David Norris, freelance writer and artist. David enjoys the “detective work” involved in genealogy. Besides his personal family history projects, he has written numerous articles for Family Chronicle and Internet Genealogy. The subjects for his genealogy “how-to” articles include using online historical newspapers; aerial photos and genealogy; and researching ancestors who served in the War with Mexico.

David has also written for other magazines including Our State, America’s Civil War, History Magazine, Civil War Times, American History, the North Carolina Historical Review, South Carolina Magazine, True West, Mental Floss, and Learning Through History. In addition, he has contributed articles to the Encyclopedia of the American Civil War, the Encyclopedia of North Carolina History, and the upcoming Mississippi Encyclopedia. He lives in Wilmington with his wife Carol.
