Minutes of Board Meetings Old New Hanover Genealogical Society Board Meeting/Courier Meeting Present: Past President, Charlotte Fetterman; Recording Secretary, Matjorie Cuzzocrea; Membership Secretary, Carolyn Corbett; Book Department and Webmaster, Peter Ambler; Member-at-Large Pete Davis; and Courier Editor Kathy Burwell. Charlotte called the meeting to order at 10:00 A.M. The secretary handed out copies of the previous Board/Courier Meeting and the last General meeting which were accepted as presented. There were nine new members taken in at the last general meeting. There was no Treasurer's Report. It was decided to get the Treasurer to deposit the smaller CD into the checking account so it can be used for the E-book series for NC Room at Library. The future programs will be as follows: Pine Room March 20, 2010 Speaker: David Norris, Topic "Unusual Sources". May 8, 2010: Picnic at Wrightsville Beach Museum. We will need to bring tables and folding chairs. Be there 11 A.M. Jim Edwards volunteered to pick up lunch if we get it from Roberts. . Discussion followed on future speakers for general meetings. Those suggested were: Jerome Tew, - From Goldsboro, Specialty Civil War; Don Blake on WWII Enlistment records - Army; Lynn Causey former state DAR Regent and Former President of State Colonial Dames of XVII Century. In addition Kathy Burwell will find out about Cape Fear Community College instructors and interests. Courier Notes: Kathy Burwell needs material for next courier Spring /2010. The issue coming out is 24 pages long and will be Winter/2010. The Secretary was asked to send a sympathy note to Mr. David MacInnes; 2700 Treasure Cay Lane; Sebring, Fla 33875. Next general meeting March 20, 2010 David Norris, Pine Room N.E.L. The meeting was adjourned 11 :00 A.M. whereupon Charlotte and Marjorie went to check out Roberts and The Sand Pail as possibilities for our picnic luncheon. Old New Hanover Genealogical Society Board Meeting 04-07-09 Present: Charlotte Fetterman, Carolyn Corbett, Marjorie Cuzzocrea, John Butler, Jim Edwards, Sherry Highberger, Doris Waff, .and Pete Davis. The minutes of the last Board, previously e-mailed, and General meeting were handed out, read and accepted, as read. There were 2 new members at that time. The Treasurer's Report was handed out, explained, compared to 2008, accepted & added to minutes file. Sherry informed-.us that her Treasury info will be found in6-8 file boxes in storage and her computer in case of an emergency. The Book Sales report was handed out and will be kept with Board minutes file. Sales grossed $324 this quarter. There was a suggestion made to donate 50% of the book proceeds to the use of the N.C. Room but placed in a special account. April 18, 2009- Picnic Meeting at Beverly Tetterton's on South Fifth Avenue, 11:30-2:00, the Board needs to be there from 11:00-3:00 for set-up and clean-up. Parking- available on street & in church lot. Door prizes for the picnic are 2 @ $25 bookstore certificates. The next Courier will include the index for the year, and is presently in Joseph's hands being proofed. Charlotte announced that, officially as of 4-02-09, Ann Hutteman resigned as editor of the Courier. Jim Edwards will pick up all Society records at Ann's. Changing the Courier and the future of ONHGS were tabled until after the general meeting to be discussed at the board meeting on May 30th. Sherry suggested that an issue on the History of ONHGS in honor of 20 th Anniversary would be interesting. Marjorie will go through the History Box, if this is decided, when we need the information. The Symposium was canceled due to lack of response. This resulted in no refund on The Convention Center deposit. See Treasurer's Report . Charlotte 's proposal to be presented to the general membership at the 4-18-09 meeting is as follows: The Board to be appointed to be a group to form the Committee of Interested Members who will continue the business of ONHGS, publish the Courier and other publications, and monitor the web page. Also, if volunteers become available for offices, ONHGS Board could resume its official status. It is to be noted that the original copies of all past publications are presently at Dock Street Printers and need to be transferred to disc for preservation. There are some old Couriers at Library downtown and at Carolyn's house. Marjorie has all minutes and a few history boxes. Some other previous officers of ONHGS do still have some computer programs in their possession. This concludes the discussion of where the properties of the Society are located. Next general meeting to be held at Beverley Tetterton's house at 319 South Fifth Avenue on 4-18-09. Bring lawn chairs & dessert. Time: 11:30-2:00 o'clock. The meeting was adjourned at noon. President, Charlotte Fetterman, opened the ONHGS board meeting. The minutes were accepted as presented. There was no Treasurer’s report. Peter Ambler reported that Book Sales had slowed. For 2008 first quarter there were 9 orders amounting to $1207, second quarter there were 9 orders amounting to $2658, third quarter 4 orders amounting to $674. The future programs will be Nov. 15 with Tim Rackley speaking on “Roads Less-Traveled,” no speaker at this time for Jan., Mar. 27&28 our 20 year anniversary Symposium, Apr./May Picnic speaker on “Maps.” The Courier mailing for the Spring/Summer issue has been delayed. John Butler reported on contacting Lucille Blake’s family about her papers which are in the possession of her son-in-law and will meet with him next week. Vol. 2 of St. James Church 1852-1872, published 1976 is available now. The meeting was adjourned after which a Symposium discussion and planning session was held. Next general meeting November 15, 2008 Next Board meeting January 6, 2009 Old New Hanover Genealogical Society 08-19-08 Present: Charlotte Fetterman, Carolyn Corbett, Marjorie Cuzzocrea, John Butler, Jim Edwards , Peter Ambler. President, Charlotte Fetterman, opened the ONHGS board meeting. There were no minutes submitted due to technical difficulties. There was no treasurer’s report due to a death in Sherry Highberger’s family. Peter Ambler reported that the total Book sales for the last half of the year were $3765 with July & August bringing $600 of that amount. Charlotte reported that the future programs will be as follows: September—Jason Tomberlin, special Librarian at the Wilson Library, UNC-CH, who will speak on the “Digitizing Colonial & State Records of N.C.” The Board will take him to lunch at the NoFo Restaurant at 11:30 am before the meeting at the Pine Room at NE New Hanover Library. There will be a 1:00 pm McKenzie Computer Group meeting with the general meeting at 2:00 pm. January 24—Symposium Discussion March 27 & 28—Symposium April 25 – Picnic There was no report on the “Courier.” New business included a discussion of the bulk rate mailing permit which costs $180. Also, John Butler reported talking to the family of Lucille Blake about obtaining her genealogical papers for the Society. The brochure “Caring for Collectables will be available at the September general meeting. Board Meeting 02-19-2008 Present: Charlotte Fetterman, Carolyn Corbett, Marjorie Cuzzocrea, John Butler, Pete Davis, Jim Edwards and Sherry Highberger, President, Charlotte Fetterman, opened the ONHGS board meeting. The Minutes of the last general meeting were corrected and accepted. There were 7 new members. The Treasurer’s Report stated that our total assets were $26,115.25, our total income was $540.52, and our total expenses were $2,274.40 submitted by Treasurer, Sherry Highberger. Sherry, also, reported that there were 4 books ordered in January and 2 books ordered in February. There was no further report on book sales. The speaker at the March 22, 2008 general meeting will be Dennis Jones who will speak on “The Immigration Routes of Ancestors.” The May 3rd meeting will be a picnic at the Cape Fear Museum from 10:30-1:30. Set up & clean up will be from 10 -2. Charlotte Fetterman, President, reported that a conference is being planned for the ONHGS 20 year’s birthday celebration in 2009. She has researched speakers in N.C., Va., & Ga. And, also, suggested conference centers. The Board voted in favor of this and tentatively suggested March 27, 28, 2009 using Friday night, and all-day Saturday as the meeting times. There will be a task force formed which will meet during the summer and when needed. Other business includes Carolyn Corbett’s reporting that the 7 new members includes the Birmingham Public Library. Charlotte named who would be volunteers at Genealogy 101 course being held at N.E. Library on Tuesday nights for 4 weeks with speaker, David Norris. Next Board meeting will be held on April 15, 2008 at 10 A.M. at the Northeast Library. The Board meeting was adjourned at noon by Charlotte Fetterman, President. Discussion of speakers for the picnic and of Board meeting dates. Book sales report: $4600 in 2006 - approximately $2000 net. Programs: Old Business: Carolyn Corbett - discussion of Courier printing sources Attendence at meetings might be enhanced by distribution of flyers to Hampstead Library, etc. Next Board meeting: April 24, downtown library. The Minutes of the last meeting were accepted with one exception. Secretary Carolyn Corbett reported that 21 members hadn't renewed their membership. It was suggested that we send Couriers to libraries to keep the mailing list at 200. Also it was decided that will change Susie Carson's membership to Lifetime. Ann reported that she needed the year-end report for the next "Clarendon Courier". She stated she needed more articles for the Clarendon Courier. Pete Davis reported that he needed help getting the program together for the Sept. meeting. Jim Edwards will talk on Internet genealogy. Peter Ambler will not be available. It was suggested that Joseph Sheppard be asked to talk on genealogy basis. Carole Weiss to be asked about talking about the census. If she is unable to do it, Jim stated that he would do it. We will be at the downtown library and we will need to pay for a security guard. The elevator will be out of commission during this time, so everyone will need to enter and exit on the third floor. We will reserve the room from 12 to 4 PM. Snack foods with coffee and drinks will be provided. Each topic should last about 45 minutes. Jim Edwards will get the publicity concerning the workshop sent out and Charlotte will get the newsletter out to the membership. The next board meeting will be on August 22,2006 if needed. The Minutes of the last meeting were accepted. Secretary Carolyn Corbett reported that 70 post card notices were sent to those who haven’t renewed as yet. There have been two who have cancelled membership and one deceased member. The treasurer's report was accepted. Pete Davis reported that the May 6 th meeting will be at the North East Library from 10:30 to 4PM. Speaker, Margaret Gentges will arrive Friday evening. Board president, Charlotte Fetterman will extend the invitation to Mrs. Gentges & her husband for dinner at the Oceanic Restaurant, Wrightsville Beach, NC. All board members are invited to attend. The menu for the picnic was approved. Marjorie & Carolyn will get the food and others will help as needed. Door prizes will consist of three one year single memberships, and one certificate toward a $20 ONHGS book, one book certificate from Books A Million, one certificate from Barnes & Nobles. At the May 6 th meeting Charlotte will present the proposal for new Descendents of New Hanover County, ca 1729 to the membership, covering the requirements and what would be needed to make this project work. Jim Edwards will get the publicity concerning the picnic sent out and Charlotte will get the newsletter out to the membership. It was also proposed that the society present a plague to the library in acknowledgement of ancestors of New Hanover County. Charlotte reported that society member; Sherry Highberger will be the society’s new historian starting in September. The next board meeting will be on August 18, 2006. A donation to the Osage Historic Society will be given to her. We will provide a picnic lunch and members will bring desserts. Peter Ambler states he will ready for the general meeting on March 18 th with the Reaves files program. Special Collections Librarian, Beverly Tetterton will be asked for a representative list of books ONHGS paid for, for use in our publicity. The dates of the 2006-2007 year were decided. The Minutes of the last meeting were accepted. Secretary Carolyn Corbett reported that we have 103 who haven't renewed as yet. Kay Berg, treasurer reported that the two CD's with Carolina First, have not made much interest this past year. It was decided that she would call around to other banks to see if more interest could be made elsewhere. Kay stated that she needed from Peter Ambler a list of the NC libraries that have brought books so she could collect the taxes. Kay wrote the checks for the YWCA, the speaker, & donation to the NC Archives ($100). The year end audit of the accounts hasn't been done as yet. President Charlotte Fetterman, stated that she was still working on the possible new organization of Southeastern families. There are still questions about privacy issues, such as where to stop living information. Also initial fees for the first ancestor then reduce rate for each one there after. This could be another tool to gather genealogy and the files would be kept at the library. Pete Davis reported that he will notify the main YWCA to direct anyone looking for the meeting on Saturday to be given correct directions. He has been trying to contact Helen Leary about being a speaker at an upcoming meeting. Peter Ambler stated the ONHGS web site was doing well. Peter continues to work on the "Reaves" subject files; twenty new surnames have been added. Peter stated that the Pender County files have already been done by the by the Pender County Historical Society and will be put in book form and a copy will be at the New Hanover Library, NC room. Peter said that help was badly needed to paste the clippings onto pages. Peter stated that Ken Davis had suggested that we pay someone to help paste in the Reaves files. Suggestions were discussed on ways to get people to volunteer to help put the articles in. Peter was then asked if he could do the March meeting on what was in the files, with examples of each one and the possibility of having the members paste in a page or two. Anyone who would like to help, Peter is usually at the library from 10 AM to 1 PM on Monday to Friday. Charlotte stated that she is still working on the possibility of a new membership organization, exclusively for those with documented family histories of Southeastern North Carolina region going back to the 1800's (maybe 1776). More of the details will be worked out before presenting to the membership for a vote. Questions of privacy, cost, placement, volunteers and who gets access to the files will need to be answered. The Reaves collection that we now have on line will probably be transferred to the library website eventually. Also on line is a list of soldiers in the hospital during the Civil War. The Minutes of the last meeting were accepted. President Charlotte Fetterman presented a proposed newsletter to be sent out concerning the upcoming general meeting and other news. She also presented three places she had priced to print and send the newsletter for us. It was agreed to use Carolina Printing and International Mailing Services. Carolyn Corbett will send the address list to International Mailing. Also Membership number and membership expiration date to be added to all mailing labels. Ann Hutteman, Clarendon Courier Editor, asked about options for the next Courier: should we make it all index for the year or have the index with information with extra pages. It was decided to add the extra pages with info. Peter Ambler stated the ONHGS web site was doing well. Peter continues to work on the "Reaves" subject files. He now to the P files and has been working on them since last November. Charlotte stated that she was still working on the possibility of a new membership organization, exclusively for those with documented family histories of Southeastern North Carolina region going back to the 1800's (maybe 1776). Membership in ONHGS would be a prerequisite plus a life membership in the organization. Items to be decided are documentation, what needed, who verifies, where fees go, compensation for reviewers. A form for membership would be needed to be submitted with fees and information. Hopefully this would be a way to get new members and raise money for ONHGS. The possibility of a beginners workshop was discussed as an extra meeting. It was decided that the money for the NC Room from our book sales to be given to Beverly Tetterton after she orders book and bills ONHGS. The next board meeting will be on Oct. 25, 2005. The next general meeting will be Sept. 17,2005. The Minutes of the last meeting were accepted. The treasurer's report was not available. After a discussion of general meeting times for the coming year, it was decided to meet on the 3rd Saturdays. Proposed General Meetings are: Sept. 17, 2005, Nov. 19, 2005, Jan. 21, 2006, March 18, 2006, April 29, 2006 (picnic). Board meeting times were also decided. Proposed Board Meetings are: Oct. 25, 2005, Jan. 10, 2006, Feb. 28, 2006, and April 18, 2006 Pete Davis reported that Dennis Jones will be the speaker of the September meeting. He will speak on Naval Stores in relation to migration to North Carolina. Other possible speakers and programs were discussed. President Charlotte Fetterman suggested that we do a newsletter before each meeting to update members on the latest Society news and to remind them of the upcoming program. Also let everybody know that the library, NC Room, is the public contact if there are any questions about a meeting being cancelled, especially in times of bad weather. Ann Hutteman reported to Charlotte Fetterman that she needs info for the Courier by August 1st. John Butler brought some of the earlier records & data of the society. Part of this was given to secretary, Carolyn Corbett, and the rest was given to Joe Sheppard to be filed at the library. John stated that he still has more records at home. Peter Ambler stated the ONHGS web site was doing well, with inquiries and book orders being regularly received. In the book department Ann Fellows has finished the 2004 birth records for New Hanover County and needs to be added to the book list. Jim Edwards continues to do the obituaries from the Wilmington Morning Star and the Wilmington Journal. We have had two book orders each totaling about $1400, and will net the Society about $700. Peter also stated that Pender County Genealogy Society is doing a three volume publication from the Bill Reaves Subject files covering people in Pender County, of which a copy of which has been donated to the library. Charlotte presented the idea of having a new membership organization, exclusively for those with documented family histories of Southeastern North Carolina region going back to the 1800's (maybe 1776). Membership in ONHGS would b, a prerequisite. There would be a non-refundable fee to have a history verified, plus a one time fee to join. We would need people to judge the submitted histories. Some special benefits would be given for joining: pins? certificates? recognition? This was tabled until more information could be obtained from other societies who have done this. Everyone thought April's picnic was a success and thanked Jim for his work getting it together. Pete is to look into Halyburton Park as possibly a site for next year. Mr. Tew will speak on the Battle of Elizabethtown and connection to New Hanover County, NC. We will also have a tour of the church, lead by Lucy Glover and an organ demonstration by Larry Look. The cost of the picnic lunch will be $5.00. The lunch will consist of a club sandwich, potato salad, fruit, veggies, tea & cola’s. The board members will be introduced at this meeting. The treasurer's report was accepted. It is time to give the library monies for the year from the book sales. Pete Davis reported that plans for the March 12, 2005 joint meeting with the North Carolina Genealogical Society is coming together. He has arranged for Chris's Restaurant to provide the box lunches. We will provide sweet rolls, juice & coffee for the morning break, and cookies with soft drinks for the afternoon break. Pete will bring a large coffee pot for the regular coffee. Carolyn will bring a small pot for decaf coffee. Carolyn will get most of the sweet rolls & cookies from Sam's Club. And she will pick up soft drinks and bring a cooler & ice and Jim will bring another cooler with ice. It was decided that some of us should be there as early as 7:30 to get things set up. Peter Ambler will get some of the society books printed for sale and Carolyn will bring some Clarendon Couriers. April 23rd is the set date for the spring picnic. Pete Davis willl arrange a speaker. The Courier should be in the mailboxes today. It was decided at the workshop to ask the ONHGS members to meet together at lunch for the announcement of new officers and votes. April 23rd is the goal date for the spring picnic. It was suggested that we have an indoor picnic at the library with a guest speaker. Pete Davis & John Butler will work to find the speaker. Ann Hutteman reported the Courier is almost ready to go to the printers. Peter Ambler reported that the Bill Reaves Surname project has 6800 names and fill 47 file boxes. Carolyn Corbett is preparing a mailing for ONHGS members to include a flyer about the Sept. meeting, voting on the bylaw changes and other news concerning the membership. The Treasurer’s report was discussed. Kay also brought a list of ONHGS books & Codes from the publishers to help confirm our new book list. Pete Davis reported that He has been in contact with Jerome Tew of Goldsboro, NC and Ms. Toms of the NC State Library about speaking at the Nov. & Jan. meetings. He will lets us know after he contacts them with date choices. Hopefully, he will have news in time for the newsletter. John Butler will make a contact with a speaker for March. It was decided that punch & cookies to be served at the Sept. meeting. Ann Hutteman reported that the Courier is going to the printers today. Jane Bailey, Carole Weiss & J.D. Causey will be asked to be the nominating committee for new officers for next year. Possible places for the May picnic were discussed. Sites suggested were Ft. Fisher, Bellamy Manison, Lutheran Church, Henrietta Cruise ship. The next general meeting will be on September 28 th. The next board meeting will be Oct. 26 th. The Treasurer's report was discussed. The balance is $9056.00. It was voted to reimburse Peter Ambler $560 for folders he bought to finish filing the Reaves Collection files, Series II. A treasurer’s report will be need for the next Courier. Pete Davis reported that everything is lined up for the picnic on May 15th. We are still unsure of how many from Brunswick County will attend. So far there have been very few people from our society going. The Board will try to call local members to see if we can get more to attend. John Butler has a table & chairs from his church. Carolyn Corbett will pick up the food from the Smithfield's ($5.99 per person) and bring dessert utensils etc. We will give six door prizes. Carolyn will get archival sheet protectors, John will bring two volumes of St. James Church records, Kay will get a $25 gift certificate from one of the book stores and Jim will make the certificate for one years’ membership. In the book department, John Butler will provide Joseph Sheppard with a document giving him ownership of his book on Brunswick County, NC wills but proceeds of sales will go to the Society. Peter Ambler, web-master, reports the ONHGS site is working well and has some traffic. Peter has added the surnames from the Reaves collection to the list. Ann Hutteman reported that the Courier is going to the printers today. A committee of Jim Edwards, Pete Davis and Ann Hutteman will review the Society by-laws. Items to be considered are: adding Ann Hutteman to the board, changing the meetings times to four times a year (September, November, March and May). There is also a need for the Board meeting times to be changed also. Pete Davis, Ann Hutteman & Joe Sheppard will work on programs for next year. They will meet on May 25th. The board will have a special meeting on July 27th to discuss the results of both committees. A bylaws notice of change will need to be sent to the membership after this meeting with a ballot for voting, yes or no. Concerning our membership, it was decided to drop the out of state members who haven't renewed but to try calling the local members who haven't renewed. We will send Couriers to NC county libraries, with the book list to help with our membership and book sales. The next general meeting will be on May 15, 2004 at the Brunswick Town Historic site. The Treasurer's report was discussed. It was decided to break down some of the expense categories to show where the funds are going. The Society has paid $840 for archival boxes and folders to store the original Reaves Collection, Family files, Series II. Two student versions of Sky Indexing software will be purchased, for Carole Weiss and Ann Hutteman to use. The monies will be reimbursed from the computer CD in the fall. Henry Mintz is working on identifying the Confederate soldiers buried in the monument mound in Oakdale Cemetery. When finished these records will be microfilmed, the Society will pay $100 towards this project. Pete Davis is still working on plans for the May picnic. Pete has booked the shelter at Brunswick Town for May 15th with Ms. Brenda Marshburn. They have a walking tour, video and trails available. There will also be folks doing enactments that day as well. Pete will check to make sure that there will be no road closings during this time with DOT. It was decided that we would use Smithfields Barbeque to provide the food again this year. We will order it from the new one on 1 th street. We will ask the attendee's to bring desserts. John will look into getting tables and chairs. Tickets will be $7.50, the same as last year. The deadline for purchasing tickets will be May 10th. In the book department, Jim has finished redoing the 2000 obits and they are ready for publishing. Joseph Sheppard has finished transcribing the 1764-1773, Will Book A of Brunswick County, NC Peter Ambler, web-master, reports the ONHGS site is working well and has some traffic. Peter and another library volunteer are working on filing the Series II, Reaves collection of papers. Ann Hutteman asked for materials for the next issue of the Clarendon Courier. It was decided to continue with the current four volumes per year. There will be more pages in the fall issue in order to have the normal information and the index, 24 pages plus the index A committee of Jim Edwards, Pete Davis and Ann Hutteman will review the Society by-laws. Items to be considered are: adding Ann Hutteman to the board, changing the meetings times to four times a year (September, November, March and May). Jim Edwards will appoint a nominating committee in the fall to start the process of finding new officers for the next term. The board voted to find a publicity person. This person will notify the newspaper of meetings, help with the Clarendon Courier and letters to the membership. Jim will write a "letter from the president" for the next Clarendon Courier to let the membership know about the need for new officers and some of the activities different people are doing to help the society and the pursuit of Family genealogy. During discussion concerning programs for next year it was decided to try to find more outside speakers to help bring new members into the society and others to attend the meetings. It was suggested that we contact Helen Leary and John Phillips as possible speakers. The next general meeting will be on April 13, 2004 at the Northeast branch of the library. In the book department, Jim is finishing redoing the 2000 obits and will need a new book done when finished.Kay has bought the 5.1 version of Sky indexing software for $399.00. The Board decided to postpone a decision for now on the Haskett award. The board approved the Society paying for archive materials for the NC Room at the library to be used to hold the original Reaves Collection, Family Files, Series II. All board members are urged to be at the next board meeting on March 23 to discuss meetings for next year, and obtaining new officers next year. about two weeks.On Jan. 30th ONHGS is hosting a potluck dinner for the
North Carolina Genealogical Society Board members. Hoping to have a
good number of our membership there. Some of the men will meet at the
library at 2:30 PM to set up the room. Then dinner will be at 6:30 P.M. The Board also discussed the next recipient of the Haskett Award. Beverly Tetterton, NC Room Libriarian & ONHGS member who has been such a valuable assest to the Society and to the Community. We also recommend that we extend a free years membership in the Society to her. The previous Haskett Award members will need to be contacted for their approval. The programs for the rest of the 2003-2004 year were discussed. The Jan. 2004 meeting Henry Mintz a professional genealogist will discuss the Library of Congress. In Feb. 2004 Dr. Allan Watson will speak on historic public buildings. March meeting we will have member participation. Members may bring letters or documents that have helped lead them on their family research. Mike Formy-Duval will discuss researching in foreign countries at the April meeting. We are waiting for word from the Southport Genealogy Society about doing the May picnic together. This will be announced as soon as possible. In the book department, Peter has the CD's ready of the four years of obits from the Star News. Kay continues working on the 1900 NH county census. She still has 5 notebooks of 27 to go. Obits for 1998, 1999, 2001 & 2002 are ready to be put on CD's for sale. 2000 obits will be scanned and added to the CD. Jim has sent a thank you note to Mr. Charles Sidberry for his generous donation to the Society. Now we need to decide the best thing to do with to donation. The nomination committee for officers for the next two years continues to work toward the dead line occurring at the end of the fiscal year. Also we should solicit volunteer help concerning the many needs of the Society .John has found out the dates of the Southport Historic Society meetings so we can present Ms. Carson with the Haskett Award. The Wilmington.net internet site will expire on Dec. 31, 2002. At that time we will use our new web site exclusively.
